Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all Lilina users!

With the new year, I thought I’d give a run-down of the new features in Lilina 1.0:

  • New admin panel
  • Plugin & Templating system
  • Faster loading times
  • Support for enclosures and podcasts
  • Abilty to rename feeds
  • Configuration via a web-interface
  • Default configuration kept in inc/core/conf.php
  • User settings kept in settings.php
  • RSS and Atom output
  • Caching of the front page
  • XHTML Output
  • Sanitizing feeds – No platypuses turning up in the middle of your pages
  • Proper OPML importing: Doesn’t overwrite your current feeds
  • Database support (Note: not full support, but support)

Plus more ;)

Discussion for “Happy New Year!”

  1. So are the speed gains to be had through the database caching? Or are there other items to speed up the loading times?

  2. Speed gains are through cleaner code and server side caching.
However, if you use a database, yes it will be faster.

  3. Thanks for the response.

So is this server side caching still from magpie_cache? I haven’t looked through the diffs on the new versus the old yet on the caching, but does it produce a significant speed increase?

  4. Actually, feeds are cached, but I’ve implemented caching for the page as well, so the index page you see is cached and when it generates again, Magpie will use it’s own cache if it wants.

If that’s a bit confusing, I’ll draw up a diagram for you.

  5. I understand.
